KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) and the Meteorological Service of Jamaica (MetService) are advising that weather condition across Jamaica could deteriorate as a result of Tropical Storm Harvey.
According to a release from the ODPEM this morning, on the forecast track, the system will impact some islands of the Lesser Antilles today and continue to move in a westerly direction. It should then pass well south of Jamaica on Sunday into Monday.
“While it is not predicted that we will experience tropical storm conditions, the weather condition across the island could deteriorate. With this will come the possibility of poor sea conditions on the South Coast, flooding in low lying areas, and landslides in hilly terrains,” said ODPEM.
Jamaicans are advised to take the necessary precautions and continue to monitor credible media sources.
The ODPEM and the MetService said that they will continue to monitor the situation.
