KCOBA Champs 2017 Message

Fortis,

“…. It’s one of the most wonderful times of the year….”

Nelson Mandela once said “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but rising every time we fall”.

With just a few days to go before the start of the 2017 Boys and Girls’ Athletic Championships, I write these few words with great expectation in the air. Over the last few weeks we were made the subject of numerous discussions, as part of an effort to distract us from the task at hand. Let me congratulate the family for the manner in which we conducted ourselves in the face of alternative facts, downright lies and psychological warfare aimed at derailing our drive to victory.

Your support at this time is critical. The strength of our Old Boys fraternity must help to bring the success that awaits us. Hence, our thoughts must be positive and our efforts meaningful. Together, our effort will make it happen: Victory will be ours, with God’s help!

Our head coach, Neil Harrison and his team of coaches, have done a fantastic job in preparing our team. The management group led by our Headmaster and Marlon Perry, along with a host of volunteers, have played their part in getting us ready.  The team has trained long and hard, and have certainly done the work in preparing themselves for victory.

We must therefore do our part to make this happen. We need to continue to support our team. We must, as always, think big, knowing that we have something unique and valuable. Thinking “win” means having the confidence to make it happen, no matter what may come in our way. Thinking win means letting go of what has already happened and putting our focus on being the best of what we can be.

Project 32 – History beckons…. We shall not fail.

Let the Fortis sprit reign supreme!

Fortis Forever! Forever Fortis!

Maurice Weir
